Identifying subtle things like grace notes and notes with reverb is also difficult for me. The problems come around when there are subtler things - like the notes on a pizzicato Double Bass, electric or a Bass Guitar riff. I've been doing my own practicing over the past months to try and better identify the simpler things (chords, melody, instruments, tempo) and for the most part I have prevented any worsening of these skills and with relative ease I can do these things.
